The 23-year-old made her music-loving debut in July of this year when she released a four-track EP titled July. Sammie claimed in an interview with Drum Magazine that she has always been artistic because she has explored in painting and fashion design. She mentioned that she began writing poems in grade 9 when discussing her pen game.

“I’ve always been creative, but it took me a while to believe that what I was creating was good enough to share. The poetry gave birth to Sam the rapper. After sharing my poetry on TikTok and seeing people’s reaction that’s when I thought I might have something.” She said.

Sammie admitted in the interview that she was hesitant to inform Nasty C that she was prepared to try her hand at composing hip-hop music. Even though she was afraid to tell Nasty C about her aspirations to make music, Sammie also acknowledged how the Hell Naw hitmaker has inspired her to start making music, mostly hip-hop sounds.

“I was scared to tell him that I wanted to rap, I was scared he would think I’m not taking it seriously. I didn’t want him to think I am mocking the arts or that I’m just doing it because I saw him become successful off it. “He inspired the passion and he pushed me to be unapologetic about me pursuing music. He made me fearless after I told him I wasn’t scared of anything,” Sammie said.

Furthermore, Sammie stated that she plans to release new music very soon, despite her own fear of audience criticism. “I wrote all the songs earlier in the year and I was scared to put it out. I will be dropping new songs and I am excited for everyone to hear them.”
