Many South African hip-hop artists have been taken advantage of by record labels for not receiving adequate royalties for their work.

The Emtee and Ambitiouz debacle has always been brought up as a reference when it comes to Record Label’s ill-treatment of artists. Emtee vs Ambitiouz entertainment has been a lengthy feud, but things heated up when the rapper left the label and went solo.

During the Ambitioz Entertainment #AskAmbitiouz Twitter segment, one tweep went on and asked the record label a question that they would not like to hear. The record label was asked if they could consider a hip-hop collaboration with another label. “If you could collaborate with one of SA Hip Hop Record Labels, who would it #AskAmbitiouz?”

The option that was sarcastically brought into the conversation was Emtee Records to which the label rebuked highlighting that they have no time for jokes. “It’s too early for jokes.” Responded Ambitiouz. It’s going to take a miracle for the relationship between Emtee and Ambitiouz to be solved.

The Pearl Thusi hitmaker claims that Ambitiouz owner Kgosi Mahumapelo has dragged his name through the gutter and damaged his reputation and the only they could settle their beef is through a boxing match.

“This is all his work because I finally saw the light and left the label. My name has been dragged through the mud and I’m tired. I’m challenging him to a match and the winner will get the money, trophy, and a public apology,” he told Daily Sun.
