Speaking candidly, Tony revealed that AKA had grown weary of fame and the fast-paced lifestyle that came with it. “I think he had enough of that,” Tony said. “He wanted something more; he wanted to marry Nadia Nakai, and I’m so grateful for Nadia coming into his life. He wanted other things in his life. He didn’t want that life of late nights, and it’s not just late nights — it’s alcohol, for example, smoking.”

Tony also reflected on Mass Country, the posthumous album released shortly after AKA’s death, suggesting that the project carried a sense of finality. “If you listen to Mass Country, that album is laced with things he says that make you think that he knew that he was going to go or that he knew it was the last time,” he said. “That album was finished on time, we put it out a week or two after Kiernan passed and buried him.”

Sharing a deeply personal experience, Tony spoke about consulting a medium, an encounter that brought him emotional closure. “I truly believed that I was talking to him,” he shared. “I remember during the second session, I felt his emotion and started crying. I asked him, ‘Did you know that you were going to die?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ I believe that in that moment, he knew his days were numbered, which is why he was living his life.”

Despite the pain of loss, Tony expressed gratitude that his son lived fully, valuing experiences over material possessions. “Kiernan could’ve easily built himself a palace with all the money he made over the years,” he said. “But he chose to spend his money on travelling, seeing the world. I’m grateful he did — he took the time to experience life.”
