The Celebrity Soccer Games have become an annual tradition, attracting throngs of fans and supporters eager to witness their favourite celebrities showcasing their football skills on the pitch.

This year’s edition was no exception, and anticipation was at an all-time high, with expectations of thrilling matches and exciting moments. SA Hip-hop, Maskandi, Gospel and Gqom were the teams that brought excitement to the fans. In a bid to spruce things up, the matches managed to get airplay on the National Broadcasting platform SABC Sport.

The event, which brought together prominent figures in the music industry concluded with the Gospel Team emerging victorious. Taking to Instagram, Big Zulu applauded everyone who participated in the soccer game. This includes the players, the fans along with reputable sponsors.

“We would like to thank everyone who came yesterday to all the sponsors the games was very successful and also congratulate Gosbel Team for the win 🙏🏿Thank you very much.” Wrote Big Zulu.

Big Zulu was accompanied by other reputable names in the music industry such as; Cassper, Kid X, Zakwe, Touchline, Ma-E, and Rashid Kay formed the Hip-hop team amongst others. The winners on the day walked away with R250 000 whilst the second-placed team pocketed R100 000.

Last year’s soccer games were packed with a lot of talking points as Cassper and the late rapper AKA gave each other a high five after the former scored a goal. The absence of AKA, who was assassinated in Durban in February 2023, made this year’s soccer tournament a little sombre.
