With all the negativity that has been peddled about SA Hip Hop, the year 2023 has proven that the culture is still here to stay considering the amount of music that has been dropped.

From the albums of renowned rappers to chart-topping singles that have dominated the radio waves, it is evident that South African Hip-hop remains vibrant and dynamic. Taking to Twitter (X), Sean Pages expressed appreciation stating that SA Hip Hop dropped some beautiful works this year. “Sa Hiphop dropped some beautiful works this year,” he wrote.

Rashid Kay, known for his contributions to the South African Hip Hop scene was also in tandem with Sean’s remarks. The seasoned rapper continued to emphasize that 2023 featured some of the finest South African Hip Hop tracks. Rashid also dismissed the notion that the rap culture in South Africa had lost its vitality.

“2023 had some of the best SA Hip Hop records in years but mainstream media is still pushing the false narrative that SA Hip Hop is dead, and event promoters believe that lie so they don’t book Hip Hop artists like they should.” Rashid Kay said.
