SA Rappers Who Dropped Music Project In 2022. A bevy of South African rappers have been hard at work this year, going so far as to release albums in order to maintain the momentum in SA Hip Hop. The majority of rappers that released albums this year were also nominated at the recently concluded SA Hip Hop Awards, demonstrating the influence they made on the game in 2022.

K.O – SR3

K.O. has been a significant example of what being consistent means in a complex genre like hip-hop. The rapper has been on top of his game yet again this year as he came through with the SR3 album release. Not only did he drop all the well-crafted body of work, but the SA Hip Hop OG served Mzansi and the rest of the world with SETE. According to Radio Monitor SA, the lead single for the SR3 album is now 2 weeks away from breaking the all-time record for most weeks at number 1.

Maglera Doe Boy – Diaspora

He might be youngin to some of the SA Hip hop fans, but Maglera Doe Boy mastered the art of getting the attention of his listeners. His “Diaspora”  album is a collection of good rap melodies that has attracted music fans regardless of whether they like rap or not. The attraction, however, is more in the concept and how the singer delivered it without putting the audience in a state of ennui. Not only did he drop an album this year, but Maglera made his fans proud as he went all the way to cop the Best Male Award at the SA Hip Hop Awards.

Priddy Ugly – MUD

Despite making news for all the wrong reasons after losing a boxing fight against Cassper Nyovest, Priddy Ugly managed to attract positive exposure with his music. The rapper came through with MUD Ep with energetic contributions from  Bontle, Marcus Harvey, Lady Du and Maglera Doe Boy. The project has proved to be a good piece of work as it earned him the Lyricist Of The Year Award at the SA Hip Hop Awards.

Thato Saul – Life Is A Gangsta

Thato Saul’s Life Is A Gangsta has proved to be a well-crafted body of work after it won the Album Of The Year at SA Hip Hop Awards. The young rapper utilized the contributions of rappers who are making waves in the game right now and managed to come out with a masterpiece. Maglera Doe Boy, A-Reece, Marcus Harvey, and Tron Pyre are among the featured performers. They all contributed significantly to the album’s success.

The Big Hash – Better Late Than Never

Big Hash has kept his fans waiting for a while for him to drop his first-ever album and 2022 has come out to be that year. The rapper has served the game with good music through singles and EPs but an album was still in the works. Big Has has come through with the Better Late Than Never album, the project has received contributions from  Lucasraps, Francis Jay, Blxckie, Flvme, Gwen Bunn, Anica Kiana, and Kindlynxsh.
