Sjava’s Music Doing Well On Radio Amidst Rape Allegations

Sjava’s Music Doing Well On Radio Amidst Rape Allegations. Despite the rape allegations against Sjava being the biggest topic in the country broadcasting channels still bump his music.

When the allegations went public stating that Lady Zamar has opened a case against Umama singer, some people were quick to call for his cancellation. Already three organizations have cancelled the BET award winner, including DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards, Cape Town Jazz Festival and Mpumalanga Beauty Pageant he was set to perform at.

Broadcasting channels were also expected to axe the star by not playing his music. Some people believe he is innocent and have not allowed the unproven accusations to stop them from listening to his music.

It has now been confirmed that his music is performing exceptionally well even in the process of the rape allegations.

According to the Radio Monitor survey Sjava’s plays of his music haven’t been affected as one would have expected. Flight School by K.O featuring Sjava has been played 99 times across 38 radio stations. His solo record Linda has been played 36 times across 19 stations.

Acting SABC Spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo explained that it won’t cancel Sjava’s music until the court of law has proven he is guilty of the accusations.

“The SABC respects the rule of law and believes that any allegations levelled against anyone should follow the due process of the law,” said acting Seapolelo said.

“Thus at this stage, it is premature for the SABC to take any decision regarding broadcasting Sjava’s music.”
