“How is it Xenophobic to not want to keep losing to the same team?”- Maraza ask Nigerians. Maraza is one of many SA artists who came to AKA’s defence when Nigerian artists bashed him alleging that he was Xenophobic.
Rapper Maraza wrote a thread on Twitter emphasizing and clarifying the tweet AKA was dragged for. He said that there was some truth into what was said, SA constantly loses to Nigeria and it’s nothing to smile and rejoice about.
The Sicks rapper mentioned a number of things SA has lost to Nigeria in music, sport and film. He detailed views that may have been perceived as xenophobic were justified by Maraza stating they were just views derived from facts.
“We also lose to you at music. Your artists get supported a lot more by your people than ours by theirs. AKA has pointed this out in the past as something WE should be looking up to YOU for. In the last 10 YEARS, we have lost the BET Award to you guys 7 TIMES!
“We lose to you at FILM! Yours is the worlds 3rd largest film industry, with the blackest stories or the blackest adaptations of popular stories I have ever seen! The most productive and high-budget corner of our industry right now is one of a minority white language from Europe!
“What some of my people are doing to some of yours is disgusting and I am ashamed @iam_Davido @burnaboy! You have EVERY RIGHT TO BE ANGRY! But don’t witch hunt the most pro-Africa South African to sate your justified blood-lust. @akaworldwide LOVES Africa more than most of us,” he wrote.
