Yanga Chief Reminded Of High School By Makhaya Ntini’s Racially Profiled Cricket Career

Yanga Chief Reminded Of High School By Makhaya Ntini’s Racially Profiled Cricket Career. Makhaya Ntini’s interview about his career where he exposed the many misfortunes that came with being the first South African Cricket player of color in the national team struck a nerve for Yanga Chief as he too had a similar experience.
“The racism in cricket and rugby is unbreakable” Yanga wrote.
The SAMA nominee took to twitter to share that the former Cricketer’s professional journey was a reminder of his high school sport’s life, as he too was a budding Cricket player himself that had to endure some uncalled for treatment.
He also mentioned that Ntini deserved much more recognition than what he received and the silence is the reason why Cricket is still not changing in to a more diverse sport.
“The whole Makhaya Ntini interview reminds me of everyday in high school” Yanga wrote.
“I’m sick and tired of enduring this treatment. How can they do this to Makhaya?? Makhaya Ntini? Who do they think they are?? It’s this thing of enduring bad treatment that stands in the way of progression” Yanga wrote.
In a conversation with many tweeps who have also experience racial profiling in high school sport’s, mainly rugby and cricket, Yanga shared some really terrible experiences in his sporting days at the hands of racists which led to him ditching the sport entirely.
“I was selected provincially and I took a taxi from Qtn to EL for one practice. Never made it to another one” the rapper said.
“It might be easier to get to practice these days but chances are your coach is still racist and you’re only competing with other black guys for the black spots. Then when you get that spot you can’t say anything about racism or they will give it to the other black guy” The rapper continued.
The ‘uTatakho’ hitmaker revealed that he played a number of positions whilst still a cricketer and it looks like the rapper was indeed an all rounder of the sport.
“Left arm unorthodox spin. Weird bowling action, Paul Adams was my idol” Yanga responded.
