JR Speaks On How Far He Went To Get Emtee To License His Music
JR lets Twitter fans in on how he had to get Emtee to license three of his songs
JR Speaks On How Far He Went To Get Emtee To License His Music. JR has been influential in discovering talent in music, and introducing South Africa to talent in an unconventional way through his ‘Feel Good Sessions’ Youtube series where artists perform live with instrumental backings only.
JR recently took to his twitter page to share with fans the struggle he went through in hunting Emtee down to license his music. JR wrote, “I remember I hunted Emtee down to license Ready, Mama and Roll Up way before they were release. Man ALWAYS been musically unmatched!”
He continued by saying that he tracked the Roll up rapper all the way to a rundown building in Johannesburg. “Tracked him down to a run down building in Jozi CBD, the “Trap”. He was recording with Ruff and some other homies. But that’s one of the stories for a book I must read.”
Emtee broke out into the industry with his single Roll Up which he later remixed with AKA and Wiz Kid. The rapper then signed with Ambitiouz Entertainment but is now signed to his own record label Emtee Records.
JR was also instrumental in introducing amapiano vocalists Jobe London and Mphow69 to the world. In 2019 the record label boss signed Jobe London to his record label Feel Good Music. Jobe broke out onto the scene with his song Sukendleleni.
