Zulu Mkhathini announces his forthcoming album in an artistic and unique way. He has seen success since his solo career launch in 2018. Since going solo, Mkhathini has since collaborated with Moonchild Sanelly, K.O, Dlala Thukzin and Dlala Mshunqisi.

Mkhathini released creative and innovate visuals in anticipation for his debut album as a solo artist titled Spirit of Ubuntu. The Uniform maker released a single titled Sekonakele to inform fans that his full-length debut album is on the way and they should expect it soon enough. In the lyrics of the newly released single, Mkhathini tells fans that his debut album is for all his fans but that the album has not been completed yet. He reassures them by saying the Spirit of Ubuntu is coming.

Directed by Zulu Mkhathini himself and shot by Nigel Stockly, the visuals are eye-catching and stay true to his South African roots as he uniquely tells fans that his album is on the way.

Before his introduction the world as Zulu Mkhathini, Mkhathini was part of the Durban hip-hop trio Dreamteam with group members Saso and Trey. Mkhathini’s previous stage name was ‘Dash’.  In an interview with Sowetan Live in 2018, the rapper explained why he changed his name. In the interview he said: “So I have been slowly unveiling a bit of myself. I’m no longer that kid that was Dash. I’m no longer just a hip-hop figure. That name was kind of restricting me.

The rapper’s first debut single Uniform was released in 2018, and featured Afrotainment’s DJ Tira and was produced by DJ Maphorisa and DJ Catzico. Since then he released a single titled Nga 2 featuring Tribal and appeared on DJ Maphorisa and DJ Raybel’s smash hit iWalk Ye Phara featuring Moonchild Sanelly and K.O.
