The Durban native explained that he found himself stuck in Joburg during the 21-day lockdown during the COVID-19 Pandemic. He said that if he had any hope of making it in the industry he would have to relocate to Joburg full time.
Blxckie told the online publication: “Joburg is where it’s at man. The fact that people are now starting to hear more of my music and what I can do is a direct result of me deciding to stay over here”.
He mentions that he wouldn’t be where he is now if he had stayed in Durban because most producers and rappers are based in Joburg and tracks are made at a faster rate.
The Popular collaborator ditched his 3rd year Psychology degree to be successful in his hip-hop career.
After just 3 months after its release, the music video for Blxckie’s breakout single Big Time Sh’lappa featuring LucasRaps has already been viewed on YouTube over 450 000 times.
