Major League DJ Explains Why He Left The SA Hip Hop DJ Whatsapp Group. Major League DJz have seen success in both Hip-Hop and Amapiano. The brothers have taken the SA music scene by storm and have even bagged a few award nominations in the process.
DJ Sabby hosted Major League DJz on his radio show on YFM ‘The Best Drive’ to talk about their smash hit DiNaledi featuring Botswana native Mpho Sebina. The DJ duo also touched on their feelings toward the SA Hip-Hop industry.
When asked if the rumours of them being kicked out the SA Hip-Hop DJ Whatsapp group were true, the Major League DJ answered “I left that group a long time ago. I just didn’t wanna listen to the politics and all that stuff. I think my brother’s still in that group but I left it”.
“I left it because I found out there’s another group that other people made. Clearly we’re not wanted, and it wasn’t just us“.
DJ Sabby also asked him what the biggest problem in SA Hip-Hop is. The Major League DJ responded:
“I wouldn’t say a lot of people needs to find themselves but they need to understand what they’re dealing with. I think we’re too focused on what the Americans are doing, we haven’t found ourselves personally in the hip-hop space.“
He also mentioned that SA rappers need to find a unique sound.
The DJ duo have been doing exceptionally well in the amapiano genre, they have already released three EPs and are moving on up with their Amapiano Live Balcony Mix Africa sessions on YouTube. The brothers have achieved over 70k views on each of their mixes.
