Rashid Kay Claims 2019 Hasn’t Had The Biggest Hip Hop Album Because AKA & Cassper Haven’t Dropped Anything

Rashid Kay Claims 2019 Hasn’t Had The Biggest Hip Hop Album Because AKA & Cassper Haven’t Dropped Anything. Rashid Kay posed a rather controversial topic when he stated how if the likes of AKA, Cassper,Nasty C, Kwesta and Emtee haven’t dropped albums the country hasn’t had a huge album.

As much as it was an opinion, it triggered views of fury and name-calling from SA hip hop fans.

It is no doubt that the artist Rashid Kay mentioned are big and have dropped rather impressive albums. But there are also some Hip hop artists like Nadia Nakai, Gigi Lamayne, YoungstaCPT, A-reece and Flame who have dropped albums that received raving reviews. It is the aspect of him thinking that the only artists capable of providing what’s worthy to be called a huge album can only come from those artist, that had people drag him.

“AKA, Cassper, Nasty, Kwesta, EmTee…didn’t drop in 2019. Still nobody capitalized and dropped a BIG Hip Hop album. Unless there’s a HUGE album I don’t know about,” wrote Rashid.

One tweep argued that YoungstaCPT did drop a huge album and that an album cannot be defined as huge simply because it was dropped by an artist whose name is far more mainstream.

“The kind of huge album you looking for seems like it needs to be also by a huge Artist, or it won’t be regarded as HUGE …. oh, didn’t Youngsta Drop this year? HUGE ALBUM FOR THE GAME & CPT,” wrote the user.

Rashid clarified his point; “You misunderstood. There are dope albums, but dope is not equivalent to HUGE, similarly a dope song is not necessarily a hit song. Buzz, airplay, impact, sales… We don’t even have a Gold album in 2019.”
