Media Guru Pens Open Letter To Cassper Nyovest About His Spending Habits

Cassper Nyovest was on Twitter talking about how he inspires more people because he makes more money and puts out more hits than his competition. There has been speculation around the R5.6 million Rolls Royce that Cassper has been posting on instagram and Mandla Maseko felt the need to talk to the rapper about it.

Check out what Mandla had to say and tell us what you think:

An open letter of advice to current hit makers and crowd pullers in the music industry. I like to congratulate Casper Nyovest for making history, Nathi for reaching double platinum and Zahara for her platinum sale in few hours. Whilst we celebrate your success and revival of our industry, please stop falling in a capitalist trap of how wealth and success is defined. Since the sad passing of our legendary Mahlathini, it became open that South African musicians are reckless with their fortunes during their hey days, and die poor when fame fades away. Today, we cannot argue that you are exploited and robbed of your talent’s fortunes. It is your definition of success that is killing you. Anywhere in the world it is an open secret that materialism is designed by architectures of fame and glamour debt trap.

The parade of Casper’s R5.6 million rolls royce in social media yesterday got me worried. My advice to managers of famous musicians is that South African musicians are going through a rough patch at the moment, no regular gigs, no social security, no proper and examplary investments, die poor, etc, it is advisable for them to investment resource into sustainable income generating assets that do not depreciate and loss value. To rent a big town house and drive an expensive car may repeat the Mahlathini saga and take our transformation agenda backward. Family tree, Muthaland and TS I know you hear me in good spirit and faith. Let us not set a bad example for our future artists.
