AKA Pulls Out Of One Of His First Gigs Since His Tragedy. Fela in Versace hit maker AKA has been making massive headlines recently after the death of his fiancée Anele “Nellie” Tembe. A few weeks after her passing, it was announced that AKA would be performing at Huawei Joburg Day at the end of May but it now seems as the rapper and his team have rethought the decision.

AKA‘s management, T Effect recently released a statement about the rapper’s planned appearance at the event. In the statement they mentioned that the rapper has withdrawn from the event because he would like to take time out to focus on his state of mind.

An excerpt from the statement reads, “Joburg Day is one of the highlights of AKA’s year, as he has been a part of its line up since 2014. It is with a heavy heart that he withdraws from participating from what has always been a magnificent working relationship with 947 and Primedia. He is very grateful to the entire Joburg day team, who have been understanding of his decision. said Nhlanhla Ndimande of the T Effect“.

The statement continues to highlight that the rapper has elected to take a step back from the eventing space because he feels he is in a space where he feels it necessary to place a greater emphasis on looking after his physical and emotional well-being. It also mentions that because of the conversations about him on social media he has decided to take some time out for self-introspection and healing.

AKA continued to thank the 947 and the Joburg Day Team for the opportunity that they have given him. At the end of the statement it in bold states that from the advice from his attorneys the rapper will not be engaging on the matter or any other matters.
