Kwesta Suffers Yet Another Financial Blow

Kwesta Suffers Yet Another Financial Blow! When it rains it pours for hitmaking rapper Kwesta. On top of all the universal challenges artists are facing due to the pandemic especially financially, the first half of 2021 has not been kind to Kwesta. From public fights with former business partners to his financial woes being aired for the world to see, it’s been blow after blow.

Whilst we hope the second half of the year will be better for the rapper, it has not started well as the rapper is reported to have lost even more money according to Sunday World. The publication has reported that Kwesta has lost money form his collaboration on Ayanda Jiya’s song, ‘Love Me’. The ‘Love Me’ single is now being said to have been pulled off an online distribution company over her unresolved dispute with Jiya’s producer.

Jiya and her producer are reportedly fighting over rights of her EP which ‘Love Me’ is part of. This resulted in the EP being taken off Platoon Music, owned by Apple. “I wrote the songs and sent them to him for production in his studio and also contributed financially for the production of the EP. So what happened was that he wanted 50% of the royalties of the EP and royalties from my gig. I was not comfortable with giving him 50% of my performance fees because that meant that he would be entitled to an equal share of all my gigs even if he does not go to perform with me,” Jiya tld Sunday World.

Kwesta has not issued any statement yet regarding the issue. Back in May, Kwesta’s former business partner Nota Baloyi aired the rappper’s dirty laundry claiming that he had embezzled Rap Lyf Records funds. “I have given him everything that’s his… I also forgave him for embezzling the Rap Lyf funds and walked away with nothing like Kid X,” Nota claimed.
