Full List Of SA Hip Hop Winners At The #SAMA27. On Saturday, one of the biggest nights in Mzansi music, the 27th annual South African Music Awards took place. Some of the biggest names in hip hop were walked away as winners for their various projects in their nominated categories. The awards were pre-recorded and screened on SABC 1. Bontle Modiselle and Lawrence Maleka held the reigns as the hosts for the awards ceremony.
Duo Blaq Diamond consisting of Ndu “Brown” Mdletshe and Sphelele Danya proved they are real fan favourites after they walked away with Artist of the Year at the SAMAs. The winner of this category is solely determined by public votes and the hitmakers received the most. Ambitiouz Entertainment bagged another win as Miss Pru’s hit song Price To Pay featuring Blaq Diamond and Malome Vector won the Music Video of the Year award.
Rapper Sho Madjozi, walked away from the awards a double winner, as she took home the awards for Best Traditional Album and the Sofnfree Female Artist of the Year. Nasty C reigned supreme as bagged the highly coveted Best Hip-Hop Album award for his successful Zulu Man With Some Power album.
Sjava walked away with the Best Produced Album of the Year, for his project Umsebenzi. Taking to Twitter, the artist thanked the SAMAs for recognizing quality work and thanked his supporters for buying their work. “Thank you to the @TheSAMAs for recognizing quality work And a Big thank you to the people that spend their money buying umsebenzi wethu Siyabonga,” he wrote.
The popular song Imali Enigi walked away victorious, as it took home the award for Best Collaboration, the song is by Big Zulu and features Riky Rick and Intaba Yase Dubai. The trio also performed their hit single at the awards.
