AKA About To Switch To Amapiano ?
AKA Reveals If He Would Join Amapiano. Award-winning SA Hip Hop artist AKA is never afraid to share what is on his mind even if it goes against the norm. SA Hip Hop artists have received criticism for jumping on the amapiano bandwagon. It is no secret that is amapiano music is currently dominating the airwaves and there has been a lot of chatter on the state of South Ah hip hop. The long-running debate seems to have no end in sight, as it seems fans and industry insiders can’t seem to agree on the hot topic.
AKA is a known fan of Madumane’s, DJ Maphorisa’s rap stage name, verse of popular amapiano track Izolo. AKA has previously posted on his stories his thoughts on Madumane’s verse and recently took to his Instagram page and shared a video of himself giving to the popular song. In his caption, AKA shared his thoughts of how could a person say SA Hip Hop is dead when Madumane is clearly rapping. “How can you say ?? Hip Hop is ? when this guy is clearly rapping,” wrote AKA. Fans and followers of Supa Mega went hard in the comment section as they tried to pick the rapper’s brain further on the subject.
One fan commented on the post and said AKA should come and join Amapiano. In his response, the Fela In Versace hitmaker seemed to reveal that he wouldn’t mind doing so, however, there is a catch. Supa Mega let the fan know that he would only touch amapiano if the right beat came along. “I’ll touch it if the right beat comes along…” responded AKA. His response is a clear sign, that the die-hard Hip Hop artist would ride the amapiano wagon that his counterparts have been criticized so much for doing.
AKA is a lover of amapiano music, after all, it is a South Ah genre but he has always made his loyalty known to belong to SA Hip Hop, so a genre switch, especially to amapiano would cause havoc on the social media streets. The rapper has previously shared his opinion on the longevity of amapiano and he seemed to doubt if the genre would be able to last long. “Amapiano is South African music so it’s okay but at the end of the day hip hop has been here for like 20 years. Piano you can have one, let’s see if you here at year 10,” he told Zikhipani.
