AKA Wishes Cassper Well As The Host Of The Braai Show As Legal Battle Continues

AKA Wishes Cassper Well As The Host Of The Braai Show As Legal Battle Continues. Hours before the highly anticipated The Braai Show with Cass makes its on-screen debut on SABC 1, rapper AKA has released a statement wishing the show well and given a much-needed update, regarding the legal debacle surrounding the show. AKA and the producers of the show Cake Media and MakhuduCom have been involved in a legal matter regarding the intellectual property of the show.

The matter was previously headed to court after AKA filled an interdict against MakhuduCom, Cake Media and the SABC. AKA’s legal team later withdrew the interdict after the parties involved agreed to settle the matter out of court. AKA in his statement revealed that he agreed to withdraw the matter in good faith that a resolution would be able to be reached without legal proceedings. However, after the interdict was withdrawn it became clear that it would not be the case.

“On 20 August 2021, after many attempts from myself to reach an amicable solution, my legal team filed an interdict against MakhuduCom, Cake Media and the South African Broadcasting Corporation. The Parties subsequently met on 25 August 2021, at the request of the legal representatives of MakhuduCom for yet another round table discussion. In good faith I agreed to this, as it has always been my intention to reach resolution with no legal proceedings. However as soon as the interdict was withdrawn and during the meeting of 25 August 2021, it became clear to my legal representatives that our good faith was being exploited for tactical purposes by MakhuduCom,” read the statement.

AKA in his statement goes on to explain the only reason for him putting up a fight in the matter is because many artists often end up with no ownership for their work. The rapper added that he will still continue the fight against the injustice of his creative vision and the violation of his work. Supa Mega has also wished continual success for The Braai Show and its host, Cassper Nyovest. He also shared that at the end of the day it’s all just business.

“It is for this reason that I continue to fight this injustice to my creative vision and the violation of my trust as it is clear to me that the continued exploration of the creative industry in the country will see no end. It is for that reason that I intend to continue the fight. The time has come for a new precedent to be set. I wish continual success for The Braai Show and its host for season two. After all is said and done, it’s just business, he added.
