Looking To Feature Zakwe And Duncan On A Track? This Is How Much They Charge

KwaZulu Natal rappers Duncan are amongst Mzansi best rappers. The two are known to drop fire verses, are known to bring the dope bars and punchlines when it comes to tracks. The two artists are currently collaborating on music and have even dropped a joint album, Zakwe And Duncan, which is a solid offering of authentic rap music. The two artists are also looking to work with other artists and when it comes to getting them to feature on tracks.

Artists often feature on each other’s music, however, not all features are free. Artists are known to charge a certain amount for a feature. The amount varies from artist to artist and at times the bigger the artist the bigger the fee. Zakwe shared on his official Facebook page just how much it would cost to feature Duncan and himself. Zakwe shared it would cost a “reasonable” R50 00 for both artists. Considering that a person is getting two artists for the price of maybe one artist.

Zakwe could be offering a good deal to those who want to work with the SAMA nominated Emcees. However, not everyone thinks R50 000 is a reasonable amount, especially in the current economic climate. Several comments were seen on the post from people who wished they had the R50 000 to be able to feature the two artists. A critic commented that he wished to understand how did Zakwe and Duncan come up with R50 000, as he doesn’t think that it is a reasonable amount to charge artists who are still hustling. “I wish to know how did you guys get to R50K. I personally think it’s not reasonable unless the aim is to work with artists who are already making notes. For a hustling black artist is not a fair. R50K is a huge amount,” wrote the critic.

Comments from fans defending the reasonable price are also seen on the post. One fan explained that “every price tag on a feature has its own target market, If you can’t afford then you were not the target.” The fan went on to explain that Duncan and Zakwe have worked hard and it has taken more than R50 000 for the public to even know them. “Once you understand what happens behind the scenes you will understand why there is a 50k price tag on that feature. Above it all, we all can have different plans for that 50k for our desires but if you find it worth it then support. But don’t do the mistake of crashing their names down just like that. The 50k is worth it,” wrote the fan.

Zakwe caught wind of the various comments on his posts and shared that he can see that people don’t know what they want, “Senginibone kahle, anizazi nifunani,” wrote the rapper. Whilst some may think R50 000 is a lot of money to charge for a feature, it is also important to note that artists are running a business and there are various costs that come with making music.
