Taking to social media, Emtee recounted the ordeal he and his friends reportedly faced at Mike’s Kitchen Restaurant. The rapper stated they were denied service delivery at the restaurant after being accused of smelling weed and having too many tattoos.

In a series of social media posts, the famed rapper expressed his frustration “Me n the guys just kicked out MIKES KITCHEN IN PARKTOWN cos I “smell of weed” and I got too many tattoos,” a furious Emtee said. In response to the backlash, Mike’s Kitchen Restaurant issued a statement denying the allegations of discrimination. However, Emtee remains adamant about pursuing legal action against the restaurant. In a statement issued by his legal team, Emtee demanded a public apology from the restaurant by Wednesday 13 March 2024 or he will further go on and sue the establishment for harassment and discrimination.

“We refer to the above matter and confirm acting for client Mthembeni Ndevu (“aka Emtee”), who instructs us that:

1.1 On Monday 11 March 2024, his official driver dropped him and his friends off at the Mikes Restaurant at 15 Andrews Road Parktown, where they intended having dinner, before going to the studio;

1.2 they were however unable to enter the eatery, as they were refused entry, ostensibly because they were “smelling of weed” and had “too many tattoos;”

1.3 they were further escorted out of the premises into the street where they stood stranded, their driver having now left.

2. This was an act of harassment and racial profiling, that resulted in huge humiliation for them and severely damaged the client’s image and reputation both as a renowned artist and member of society, particularly because it happened in the full view of patrons, some of whom are his fans and supporters.

3. Client has now instructed us to direct his correspondence to yourselves as owners of Mikes Kitchen demanding an unreserved, public apology to him and his friends for this incident.

4. Should such public apology not be made by close of business tomorrow being Wednesday 13 March 2024, we hold instruction to summarily proceed with legal action on this matter.” Read the statement.
