New Music! SA Hip Hop Turns Up The Heat This October
New Music! SA Hip Hop Turns Up The Heat This October. It’s a new month, summer vibes are in and SA Hip Hop artists are ushering in the season with new music. Several artists have dropped new projects. There is a variety of sounds to pick and choose from, from new old rappers to seasoned rappers. Everyone has come to play, with the music releases. Kid X has finally dropped his highly anticipated album, Father of Zen. Newcomer Lucasraps, who recently signed to Def Jam Recordings Africa, has released his debut album, 031 to The World.
SA Hip Hop DJ, PH has linked up with Spirit hit producer Makwa to bring SA Hip Hop together on a fire track, called Serious (Street Remix), which features several SA Hip Hop rappers stepping up to the mic. Heavyweights Reason, Cassper Nyovest, Blaklez and newcomers Touchline and Blxckie are just some of the rappers who are on the track. DJ Ph seems to have a formula for the summer because the song is something that could be played at the clubs. A rap song for the fans to enjoy. South Ah Hip Hop is having showing that it is still alive, it’s just evolving.
The 031 has been very busy as two of the provinces natives have released projects. Def Jam signee Lucasrap has dropped his highly anticipated debut album, 031 To The World. Ahead of the album’s release, Lucasraps dropped singles, Slide and Mud which have gone on to do well on the music charts. Lucasraps signed to the label even before he dropped the label and had all eyes on him as to what does he offer. SA Hip Hop commentator Scoop Makhathi had expressed his views on so much capital being dropped on Lucasraps prior to him dropping a full body of work. The critics may have been wrong about Lucasraps because he has certainly stepped up to the table.
Producer 031 Choppa has released a new project called Kwamashu To Ejozi, which is a body of work where he shares a few stories about the things he has faced since his move to Johannesburg. The 23-year-old moved to Johannesburg when he was 18, this was a move he hid from his family. He was exposed to “beat making” in the city and has gone on to work with Riky Rick, Marcus Harvey and Costa Titch. His album consists of 15 tracks and he has worked with a handful of artists, from the likes of Dee Koala, Blxckie and Maglera Doe Boy.
Kid X has finally delivered on that album, he promised. Father of Zen is finally available on digital platforms for fans of the rapper to stream to their delight. Kid X with his latest offering is opening up and getting personal and touching on aspects of his life. For the album, Kid X has stuck to his guns in terms of his sound but also brought his A-game when it comes to the raps. He surely has delivered on a project fans can enjoy.
