Here’s What SA Rappers Had To Say About Their 2019 Milestones

Here’s What SA Rappers Had To Say About Their 2019 Milestones. We have finally reached the last month of the year and all we can do now is recap on what the year 2019 has offered.

Hip Hop has been an amazing year for most of its artists who have achieved so much more through a number of trials and tribulations. We have seen it all, from AKA pulling off two Orchestra concerts, Nadia scooping three awards in the same week and Boity becoming the first SA female rapper platinum – all of that is to say the least.

Casting aside the worst that has taken place, there have been many wins and achievements. All that is proof at how rapidly SA hip hop is growing. Although most have claimed that SA hip hop is dead or needs saving or suffering, the milestones that artists have accumulated proved otherwise.

During an interview with True Love Magazine rappers Sjava, Fifi Cooper, Zingah, Kwesta, Gigi Lamayne, Yanga Chief shared their thoughts on what they have achieved.

Sjava – My one man show at the Sun Arena, on October 27, was my biggest highlight for 2019. Having people who appreciate what i do under one roof, while i performed their favourite songs, was magical to say the least.

Fifi Cooper – 2019 made me believe even more that everything is possible. I’ve been learning the business side of things, which is something I’ve always wanted to do. It has shown me how much power I possess as a female in a male dominated industry as an artist and as a businesswoman.

With all my achievements this year including being on the soundtrack for Losing Lerato, I’ve proven that I am capable of anything,” she said speaking to True Magazine.

Kwesta – I recently tweeted that i am done performing in clubs and the reason purely being technical issues. I have a band that i perform with and most times, clubs can’t cater for them. But people can expect a fire album in the New Year and more music from the King Of Rap.

Gigi Lamayne – The Gigi Gang Show was my biggest highlight. It was supported by other women in the industry, Moozlie, Fifi Cooper, Nadia Nakai and Mshoza. I’m just glad that it’s something women started and continue to grow.

Zingah – Going back to the drawing board has helped shaped my career and given new life to my music.

Yanga – When i make music i never get out there with the intention of making an EP, an album or mixtape. I make music purely because of how i feel.
