JR was formally named as one of the judges for the upcoming Idols SA because of the extraordinary knowledge he possesses regarding music. Taking to Twitter, the rapper has showered praises on Musa who released a brand new album Musa’s Backroom. “Well done Musa! Here’s to a brilliantly executed album! 🥂 #MusaBackroom,” Tweeted JR.

Musa’s eleven tunes cover a wide range of topics, and the majority of them are relevant. He chose to collaborate with artists such as Zama Cofi, Zama Khumalo, Kwesta, Mnqobi Yazo, and Beyond Vocal. The lead singer kept the number of people he worked with to a minimum, ensuring that he remained the main figure.

Musa’s Idols SA success opened many doors of opportunities for him in pursuit of becoming one of the most recognized musicians in South Africa. Musa was nominated for a Metro FM Award in the Best African Pop Album and Single of the Year categories for his album, Mr Serious, and popular song, Mthande.

Musa credited his successful music career to the late Robbie Malinga. The musician admitted that Robbie Malinga pushed him in his music career, and with his new album already gaining popularity, it appears that he put the advice to good use.

“I met Robbie a few years before IdolsSA when I was auditioning to sing backing for Zahara and wasn’t successful. He told me that he would never sign me as a backing vocalist because he felt that I could do better with my singing career. So I had to find out how to better myself and that’s how I ended up singing in the TV competition,” he said.
