Taking to Twitter, the Minister of Sports, Arts And Culture Zizi Kodwa announced that his office invited the famed rapper Zola 7 to celebrate and wished him a wonderful birthday. The Minister stated that his office appreciates Zola 7’s contribution to the country’s social development and that is worthy of recognition.

ZOLA 7 got a special call today from the First Citizen earlier – we appreciate his talent and contribution to the social development of our country. I am meeting up with him this afternoon to wish him a wonderful birthday.” Tweeted Minister Kodwa.

In another tweet, the Minister sent his birthday congratulations to the veteran artist sharing pictures of the former cutting his birthday cake. “ZOLA 7, we appreciate your talent and contribution to the social development of our country. A GREAT BIRTHDAY & MANY MORE YEARS,” Minister Kodwa added in a tweet.

Following the Minister’s gesture to Zola 7, there have been various reactions on the Twitter timeline. Some have backed the cause, while others have suggested that the Minister’s office should focus on cultivating young talent rather than on acknowledging the achievements of the elderly.

This is not the first time Zola has been celebrated after going through a rough patch in his life and career. Last year, the Kwaita start was honoured with his first Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mzansi Kwaito House Awards.

“We relate to Zola 7, we all know that the only Kwaito legend that regards to 7 is him and we are celebrating 7 years this year, said Mzansi Kwaito House Awards CEO Perfecta Malinga.
