On Tuesday 16 May 2023, reports circulated on various media outlets that the SAPS in KZN have found the murder weapon in AKA murder. According to the Eye Witness publication, a man in his early twenties was found with an unauthorized gun in Umlazi, Durban, over the weekend.

The weapon was reportedly sent to ballistic test and it matched the one used to murder the famed rapper AKA. The KZN Police Provincial Spokesperson Lt-Col Robert Netshiunda raged towards the reports stating that some media reporting is jeopardising their investigations.

“Some media houses, who clearly seem hell-bent to botch any police endeavours to find the killers and bring justice to the families of the victims, started the day on Tuesday morning with unsubstantiated rumours and malicious allegations about the recovery of the so-called murder weapon,” said Lt-Col Robert Netshiunda as per TimesLive.

“This insensitive, unethical and inconsiderate reporting has great potential of arming the persons of interest with ammunition to further complicate police progress into the matter.”

The Supa Mega was shot and killed outside the Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. The Police have been under massive pressure from the rapper’s fans who are echoing their voices for justice to be served for AKA and Tibz. The Forbes family on the hand, has made it clear that they will not interfere with the police investigations and they urged the AKA’s Megacy to allow the wheels of justice to take its course.
