Nadia Nakai Explains Why She Didn’t Attend Metro FM Awards To Support AKA. It was a big night for most South African artists who came out as winners at the highly contested Metro FM Awards. But AKA’s Megacy were also amongst the biggest winners.

AKA came victorious as he was the biggest winner of the night scooping four awards at the 17th Metro FM Awards. The late rapper was nominated in six categories and won four and congratulations were in order amongst the Megacy and AKA’s loved ones.

Nadia Nakai who was not in attendance following her late boyfriend’s Metro FM Awards victory explained her absence. This came after one of her followers alluded that she was supposed to be there when the Forbes family was called to receive AKA’s awards. “When they call him as a winner you should be there too, the whole family including you too bragga,” read the tweet.

Nadia Nakai responded by saying that she was invited by AKA’s family but declined. She implied that she wanted the moment to be about Forbes and Megacy. “They did ask me to come but I thought this moment should be just between them and the Megacy. I’m there in spirit tho. will be watching!” Nadia said in a tweet.

Even though she did not attend the awards ceremony, Nadia Nakai was cheering AKA via her Twitter. Bragga also praised the fans for pushing the votes in order for AKA to win his posthumous Metro FM Awards. “For real!!! Y’all really pushed for him!” Tweeted AKA.

Lynn and Tony Forbes, as well as AKA’s daughter Kairo Forbes, whom he shares with DJ Zinhle, accepted his awards on his behalf. The Supa Mega was shot and killed along with his friend Tibz outside the Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. The police have launched a probe into AKA’s murder case but no significant arrests have been made.
