Riky Rick’s Mother Tells How She Wants Her Son To Be Remembered
Riky Rick’s Mother Tells How She Wants Her Son To Be Remembered. Riky Rick‘s mother Louisa Zondo will never forget the devastating call she received on February 23, 2022, informing her that her son Rikhado “Riky Rick” Makhado had passed.
The late rapper succumbed after committing suicide, and his mother has penned a book Dearest MaRiky — A Mother’s Journey through Grief, Trauma and Healing in his honour. Speaking in an interview with ENCA, the rapper’s mother was asked how she wants her son to be remembered following his immense contribution to the rap culture and the music industry as a whole.
“Riky was just a larger-than-life character to us because we didn’t know him personally and intimately, but you did. How do you like for your son to be remembered?” In response; Louisa Zondo said; “I think we are tremendously blessed by Rikhado’s character, his openness, his zest to share because we dont grapple in the dark.”
“It is clear what the guidance is from him. Rikhado expressly said that he really does not care what legacy he lives. As long as he leaves something that can be built on and for us it’s very clear what can be built on, and what can be built on is his love for human beings, his love for nature, and his love for young people.
“So the Riky Rick Foundation for the promotion of artivism has been established it will soon be launched and the focus is on these aspects, mental health and well-being, nurturing and supporting young people in their endeavours. The notions of using arts and culture for us to be vitalized to bring about the change in our lives that we want to see.” Riky Rick’s mother said.
