Youngsta CPT Responds To Remarks That He’s “Lucky” To Have Made It In Mainstream Music

Taking to Twitter, one of Youngsta CPT‘s followers said that the rapper is fortunate to have succeeded in the rap industry given how difficult it is for rappers with similar backgrounds to break through. “Times have changed. You are e en lucky to have made it on the mainstream with such great talent. Many talented rappers like yiy are sidelined for mediocre. 98% of rappers in the mainstream can’t rap.” Read the tweet.

In response, the Benni McCarthy chanter stated that he is fortunate to have made it, claiming that it is the most difficult accomplishment as a Capetonian rapper. “Very lucky, being the Muslim coloured Cape Townian rapper was and is still one of the hardest tasks in the industry,” wrote Youngsta CPT.

With all that he has achieved in a short space of time in the rap game, Youngsta CPT believes that he has not received much-deserved recognition thus far because he is not from Joburg. This came after one of the tweeps indicated that the rapper’s name is not mostly mentioned in SA Hip-hop conversations.

When it comes to SA HIP HOP why is it @YoungstaCpt not mentioned? Doesn’t he fall under the genre? That time he won the Lyricist of the year award with 3T but the Album is not in the top 5 list or to debate about it? Ya’ll disrespect or hate Youngsta too much.” Read the tweet.

In response Youngsta CPT said; “. “If JHB is the only region documenting SA Hip Hop then this will always be the outcome…”
