AKA Mom, Lynn Forbes: “ I don’t believe people who paid for AKA’s killing will be arrested.” AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes has voiced doubts about the likelihood of any arrests related to her son’s tragic demise. AKA, born Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, died in Durban on February 10, 2023, after he was shot along with his friend Tebello ‘Tibz‘ Motsoane.

It has been 10 months since Mzansi woke up to the heartbreaking news of AKA’s passing, and to date, the police are actively pursuing substantial arrests to progress the case. However, AKA’s mother doesn’t believe that the people who orchestrated AKA and Tibz’s death will face the wrath of the law.

During an interview with SA Hip Hop Mag on The Episode Podcast, Lynn Forbes shared her perspective on whether she is more optimistic now about AKA obtaining justice compared to the early days of the rapper’s passing, or vice versa.

“You touched a bit on the justice for AKA, do you wake up feeling a lot more optimistic for his justice now than you were before, or is it actually the other way round?” In response, Lynn Forbes made it clear that from the start she didn’t have high expectations that her son and his friend would get the justice they deserve.

“For me, I think it is a way of self-preservation and self-protection maybe because I dont put a lot of energy into thinking when will this be solved, how’s it going to be solved,” she said. “What I did early on is I accepted that he was gone and acknowledged that that was the situation and that we have to deal with it.”

Despite the police keeping the Forbes family informed about the advancements in their investigation, Glamy remains sceptical about the legal system’s ability to deliver justice for her son. “I think sometimes it changes, sometimes when we get an update from the cops, I think well it sounds like maybe we will see the end of this. But let me tell you, for me the only justice that makes sense is to know my son will not be forgotten and celebrated because I think that is the biggest for me,” she said.

As the nation and the Megacy fanbase eagerly await justice for their beloved iconic rapper, AKA’s mother remains resolute in her lack of trust that the justice system will fulfil its duty in that regard. “But when it comes to actual law I dont know if it will ever be done because for me the only way it can be done is if they bring the person to task that paid for the bullet,” Lynn Forbes said.

“If we are going to arrest somebody and put somebody in jail who pulled the trigger, for me that’s not justice, justice is who paid for the bullet. So maybe they are going to arrest somebody but do I believe we’ll ever find the person who paid for the bullet, I actually dont believe that and if it does happen, I will be surprised.”
