The 14-track project featured outstanding collaborations, with notable artists delivering exceptional verses. Zulu Mecca, in particular, garnered public acclaim for her impressive delivery on the track “Soul Food.”

Taking to Twitter (X), Priddy Ugly shared with his fans how he selects features when he works on an album. Expressing his preference, the rapper mentioned his desire to initiate the beat-making process with the producer. He clarified that he’s not fond of working with pre-made beats, as starting from scratch allows him to develop the song’s concept, enabling him to write and record more effectively.

“Generally how I go about selecting features for an album is : I like to start the beat in the session with the producer, i prefer not to have ready made beats sent to me. I come up with the entire concept of the song, style, cadence, sonics & then write & record to it. Take it to the home studio to refine it,” he said.

The rapper further explained that his next step involves contemplating an artist who can complement the record and bring something to the table that he cannot. “Take it to the home studio to refine it. Then I’ll think about whose VOICE, tone & pen I hear on the song. Usually someone who can elevate the record & do something I can’t,” Priddy Ugly wrote.

“Then I’ll reach out to them & send them the complete song, sometimes I’ll send 3-4 references… Sometimes the person I have in mind for the record doesn’t particularly like the record, or they’re not in the right space to resonate with it, sometimes they just don’t say anything. Sometimes I need to reach out a few times & sometimes it just doesn’t work out,” he added.

To uphold the desired style for his album, the rapper explained that he would provide the featured artist with an open verse. This serves as a guide, helping them understand the specific approach he envisions for the overall sound of his album.

“When working on an album, I already have sequencing, the energy & flow of the project in mind – so I prefer to send references of what I like for MY project & not necessarily for me to be in the studio with the featured artist cooking up ideas, unless we have a single in mind. But for MY album, I send them something that I’ve already worked on with an open verse for them…” Priddy Ugly said.
