In an interview with DRUM Magazine, the renowned Hip Hop DJ disclosed that her debut track was Jay Jody’s idea, as she initially had a different vision for the sound of the collaboration. “Cameras was an idea that Jay Jody came up with. I initially had another song I wanted him to sing. But he felt like he was in a different space musically and came up with Cameras instead.

“I just had an idea of what I wanted the song to sound like and I’m happy the guys understood that perfectly, even with the message.” She said.

Coco Brown further mentioned that it was her manager, Pearl Moyo, who facilitated Jay Jody’s involvement in the song, and fortuitously, her boyfriend Maggz also joined the track, resulting in a perfectly aligned collaboration.

“She (Pearl) made that happen for me, and when I heard Jody’s hook and his verse in the song, having Maggz on it was a no-brainer. I just knew they would complement each other. And I’m so glad I did that, it’s perfect!” She added.

Speaking about the motivation behind making the song Cameras, the YFM DJ expressed her desire to contribute to the SA Hip Hop industry by crafting music with feel-good concepts that would resonate well in clubs, aligning with her penchant for creating music that uplifts and energizes listeners.

“I want to contribute more to this industry than just through playing other people’s songs,” Coco said. “I want to collaborate now and make music that’s my own. I’m hoping the girls will appreciate the message because it’s really such a feel-good song and I’m also hoping the guys will appreciate the raps on it.
