Ex-Global Lashes At A-Reece Dropping Kill The King Same Day Usimamane Dropped His Debut Album

Following the release of A-Reece‘s mixtape Kill The King, the project received plaudit from Reece’s devoted fans. But the Pretoria-based rapper also got criticized for attempting to steal the spotlight from the young Durban rapper who also released an album on the same day.

A-Reece’s actions have raised eyebrows, as his unexpected release of a mixtape caught many off guard. This surprise drop was perceived by some as an attempt to overshadow Usimamane’s recent release of his debut album 20th: Days Before Maud. Critics argue that the timing of A-Reece’s release was less about artistry and more about capitalizing on the moment,

Ex-Global is among those who have strongly criticized A-Reece, arguing that the Paradise hitmaker should have acknowledged Usimamane’s talent instead of making the day all about himself and his fans, the Slimes.

“All he had to do was acknowledge Usimamane and show love, rap about his life and about how he is about to be a father & not rap about us. Now he just got Son’d by another Durban kid. Never let life get to a point where it humbles you because without fail it will humble you.” Wrote Ex-Global.

Despite A-Reece achieving 3 Million Spotify streams for his mixtape, the rapper’s project is no longer occupying the top spot above Usimamane’s debut album. Rather, it is Usimamane who has leapfrogged A-Reece on Apple Music an indication that the Durban rapper’s album has high rotation amongst SA Hip hop fans.
