Jay Jody and Blaklez Release New Single “Naledi” As “Cool&Blak” Album Looms

Jay Jody and Blaklez Release New Single “Naledi” As “Cool&Blak” Album Looms. South African hip-hop duo Cool&Blak are back in motion, with Jay Jody and Blaklez unveiling their latest single, “Naledi,” featuring Miss Ready. The track is now available across digital streaming platforms and arrives with a bigger announcement attached: the duo’s long-awaited collaborative album is complete and on the way.

Jay Jody shared the news with fans under the Cool&Blak banner, greeting them with “Dumelang!” before confirming that “Naledi” had officially landed. The rapper also teased the upcoming album, giving listeners another reason to anticipate what the duo has been building behind the scenes.
Meaning “star” in both Setswana and Sesotho, “Naledi” is a fitting title for a release that signals Cool&Blak’s renewed presence. The song was produced by Jooniar, who previously worked on the duo’s “Gemstones,” while chriso1_ handled the post-production.
The release follows a growing catalogue that includes “Gemstones,” “Book of Acts” featuring Lia Butler and “The Bill,” giving fans a glimpse into the musical direction of the forthcoming project.
For Jay Jody, the latest Cool&Blak chapter adds another layer to an already distinctive career. The Pretoria-born rapper, songwriter, producer and filmmaker has established himself through a thoughtful approach to hip-hop, both as a solo artist and as part of B3nchMarQ alongside his brother A-Reece. His solo catalogue, including the acclaimed Shine O’Clock, has further cemented his reputation as an artist focused on detail and storytelling.
His partnership with Blaklez has grown beyond music, with Cool&Blak becoming a platform for celebrating hip-hop culture and community. Their Cool&Blak Sundays events have become part of that identity, bringing together music, conversation and culture in a relaxed daytime setting. The duo has also indicated that the Sundays series will make a return.
Miss Ready adds a fresh vocal dimension to “Naledi,” complementing the duo’s established sound while helping push the collaboration into new territory.
With the Cool&Blak album already completed, “Naledi” serves as more than a standalone release. It is the latest sign that the duo are preparing for a much bigger return, with an official album announcement expected soon.
For now, “Naledi” gives fans a taste of what is coming as Cool&Blak step back into the spotlight with their eyes firmly on the next chapter.
