The rising rapper took to Instagram where he shared a series of atmospheric photos alongside a short message: “9 days till the Ep 🙏🏾 stop the violence . #womenforchange.”

His post combines anticipation for his next musical chapter with support for the wider fight against gender-based violence and femicide in South Africa.

The message comes at a particularly painful time for South Africa, following the deaths of eight women whose bodies have been discovered in and around Kempton Park and other parts of Ekurhuleni over the past two months. The cases have intensified concerns around gender-based violence and femicide, with police establishing a dedicated task team to investigate the deaths and determine whether they are connected.

Women For Change has also raised concern over the killings, calling for stronger action against GBVF and questioning whether existing government measures are translating into meaningful safety for women.

Issi, born Issi Luthando Dlamini in 2005, grew up in Durban’s Chesterville and Mayville areas. The young rapper has developed a growing audience through music shaped by his introspective approach and experiences of township life.

His influences include international hip-hop figures such as 21 Savage, Young Thug and the late Juice WRLD. Earlier this year, he released Dawn ~ The Beginning, a project that included tracks such as “Double P” featuring DJ Sliqe.

Now, attention has shifted to what comes next.

Issi’s nine-day countdown points to a September 25 release for his forthcoming EP, although the project’s title has yet to be revealed. As anticipation builds, the rapper is making it clear that his next release is not the only message he wants his audience to hear.
