Emtee Gives Major Update On Long-Awaited ‘Nairobi’ Album

Emtee Gives Major Update On Long-Awaited ‘Nairobi’ Album. Emtee’s long-awaited album Nairobi appears to be entering its final stages, with the South African hip-hop heavyweight indicating that the project is nearing completion. The album has remained one of the most anticipated releases among his fans as the rapper continues to work towards its completion.

The brief announcement comes after months of anticipation surrounding the album, with the South African hip-hop heavyweight keeping much of his attention on completing the project. “Nairobi almost done,” Emtee wrote. For fans who have followed the rollout closely, the latest update could signal that the wait is finally entering its final stage.
Nairobi follows a significant pattern in Emtee’s discography, with the rapper naming major projects after his children. His 2015 debut album Avery was named after his first son, while 2021’s Logan honoured his second son. The upcoming album takes its name from his daughter Nairobi, who was born in 2023.
The title also connects to an important chapter in Emtee’s career. The rapper has previously spoken about travelling to Kenya’s capital, where he worked with Trey Songz while dealing with illness. He described the experience as a “monumental moment” in his journey.
Emtee further underlined his commitment to finishing the album earlier this year when he turned down interview requests, stating: “I’m not doing interviews till Nairobi the album is done.” The statement came in September and reinforced the impression that completing the project had become his primary focus.
The rapper has also hinted that Nairobi will explore a broader musical direction. Rather than relying solely on the trap sound that has become closely associated with his catalogue, Emtee has spoken about bringing live instrumentation into the project, including keys, drums and choral elements.
That approach could give the album a different sonic identity while allowing the rapper to showcase other aspects of his musical ability. Emtee has previously suggested that the project could rank among his strongest bodies of work.
His latest update arrives after a turbulent period that saw him return to performing at the Cape Town Kota Festival in September. With his attention now firmly back on the studio, anticipation around Nairobi continues to build.
For now, Emtee has not revealed a release date. However, his confirmation that the album is almost complete gives fans one of the clearest indications yet that the project is moving closer to its long-awaited arrival.
