“Even For Me ‘Ngud’ Was A WTF Moment,” Kwesta Details Why He Didn’t Release An Album Right After ‘DaKAR II’
“Even For Me ‘Ngud’ Was A WTF Moment,” Kwesta Details Why He Didn’t Release An Album Right After ‘DaKAR II’. Kwesta’s DaKAR II was one of the best selling albums South Africa has ever seen. The album sold 7x platinum with some of its singles like Ngud’ and Ngiyaz’fela Ngawe featuring Thabsie being chart toppers.
Kwesta recently joined online publication Pan African Music For An interview about his new album g.o.d Guluva and also reflected a bit on his fourth album DaKar II. While in conversation he took the opportunity to speak more about the award winning single Ngud’ featuring Cassper Nyovest.
The song blew up in 2016 and said, “Even For Me ‘Ngud’ Was A WTF Moment”. He elaborated by speaking about how he thought he was making a song that people from the hood would enjoy but the song popped in more middle class areas.
The rapper then began explaining why he didn’t release an album soon after DaKAR II was released. He explained that he just didn’t have the time to make an album and was just making a few songs.
“The real reason why there wasn’t an album right after DaKAR II is because there was no time to make it. The demand was so crazy… I would just make a couple of songs here and there but I was not really thinking project-wise.” He said.
The rapper recently released his new album g.o.d Guluva with a stellar list of features. The album features the likes of Yanga Chief, Makwa, Reason, K.O, Focalistic, Kid X, and more. Kwesta explained that the album is meant to show his growth and that he is not the same person that made DaKAR II. He is in a completely different place in his life now.
He also questioned his happiness and how content he is although he is aware that he has achieved so much in his career.
