AKA Shares What He Hopes For As He Remembers Late Fiance Anele Tembe A Year After Her Passing. AKA has paid tribute to his late fiancée Anele “Nellie” Tembe on the one-year anniversary of her untimely passing.
A year later, the award-winning rapper mentioned that he will never forget that awful day. The rapper took to Twitter and expressed his wish for his family and the Tembe family to heal, and that they should all come together to honor Anele.
“I’ll remember this day for the rest of my life. 11/04/2021. Everyday I pray for the healing of your family and my family. I hope one day we can all come together and pay our respects to you and your memory at the same place and at the same time.” Tweeted AKA
Tembe passed away on April 11, 2021, when she fell from the tenth storey of the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town. Tembe’s death sparked rumors that she had committed suicide.
Since her passing, the rapper tells City Press that it’s been a daily battle for him, and he’s been depressed and had to go to counseling.
“My mother stepped in and sought the services of both a grief counsellor and a therapist. At first, it was depressing to even make the effort to speak to them, but, in time, I got into it, and it has been a huge change and a saving grace in my life. I now consciously make more time for family.“
He also mentioned that his daughter, Kairo Forbes, has been his strength and sanity, as well as his dog, Mr. Louis, who is like a companion to him in certain ways.
“In those dark times, it’s just me and him at the house and he pulls me through with a nudge or just knowing when to snug up to me in a low moment.” He said.
