Zola 7 Reveals How Lance Stehr’s Record Label Tried To Destroy His Career. Zola 7 has gone through tough times with his health and mostly financial difficulties but with the support from his industry peers, the rapper managed to get back to his energetic life.
During an interview with MacG on Podcast And Chill, the rapper opened up about how his previous record label tried to destroy his career. Zola 7 can be seen addressing emotionally in a video that has gone viral on social media.
He revealed that the music executive paid people, particularly his baby mama, to “speak ill” of him. “I ended up in court at some time with this boy who by the way turned out to be working with Lance with one of my baby mamas,” he said. Responding to how his baby mama was trying to destroy him the rapper said; “uLance was paying them to (speak ill of me) because I had left the record company.”
Zola went on and mentioned that he even saw the contract that his baby mama signed to launch a smear campaign against him. “I even saw the contract and the contract came from Media24,” said Zola. “So when I left the company people started now attacking me directly because they were being paid elsewhere.”
The rapper further explained how this decision went on to affect his baby mama as she was the one who started suffering financially. “They did not understand the whole thing, say like the baby mama and then you attack me at some point we will see the results, and the people that are paying you to attack me are not always gonna be there you gonna end up with me facing problems with the child and those people who are paying you are not always gonna be there.” He explained.
Despite facing many problems with the record label, Zola is still appreciated by many brands in Mzansi. The Kwaito chanter is on the verge of receiving his Lifetime Achievement Award in November. In an interview, Perfecta Malinga, CEO of MKHMA, said Zola needs to be honoured.
“We decided to honour him while he is still alive, to give him the lifetime achievement award and tell him that we love him and respect what he’s done, not just for the music industry but for SA,” Malinga said.
