Buzzi Lee is one of the young South African rappers who came through the tutelage of Boss Zonke, and she will be eternally grateful to Riky for the opportunity he provided her. Speaking during an interview on Space Impact Podcast, the Pretoria-based rapper recalled how she got the chance to work with the late rapper.

“He heard my song Watla from I think Shampoo and Phantom Steez they were there like shooting some content with him at his studio, maybe they were playing random songs I wasn’t there, then they played Watla and apparently he (Riky Rick) asked who’s that and they’re like its Buzzi and he’s like bring her next week,” she said.

On meeting Riky for the first time, Buzzi Lee said; “I went but they just said we’re shooting a show, so we went to shoot a show, in his studio thereby Cotton Fest and there is the mic and we just performed sitting, its called The Yard.

“After the performance, we were supposed to leave and then he (Riky) was like you let me play you this son, and then he played Sho Boy, and then I just heard all these voices. I heard 25K, Focus, Blxckie and everybody. He was like yeah can you write quickly, and I didn’t even know if I can, but I just said yeah.”

The Koloi chanter remarked that getting a verse on Sho Boy was a life-changing experience for her, thanks to Riky’s belief in her. “Im not gonna say no, Im not gonna chicken out right now because I wouldn’t be here if I chickened out that moment.

One thing about me is I can be scared or whatever but in the right moments I just become brave. So I wrote the verse and he put me on Sho Boy and he said you’re the future and I was like thank you Riky,” said Buzzi Lee.
