AKA Mom, Lynn Forbes On How Real The AKA & Cassper Beef Was. The longstanding beef between the late rapper AKA and Cassper has been a significant storyline in the South African music scene, captivating fans and sparking speculation about its genuineness for years.
In an interview with SA Hip Hop Mag via The Episode Podcast, Lynn Forbes, AKA’s mother, expressed her perspective on the realness of the well-known beef between the two acclaimed rappers. She asserted her belief that the beef between the two artists was genuine.
“I think it was real (the beef) because I will tell you, Kiernan would talk to me, and if it wasn’t real I would’ve picked it up,” Lynn Forbes said. “I dont know the ins and outs of it, I dont even know. Somebody asked me a couple of days ago, how did it start?
“But I dont know, you must remember I’m the mom, you guys are boys you not telling your mom things, you’re not telling her everything. So people always ask me things about that and I say no, boys specifically tell their moms things that they think their moms need to know because they are protective and all of that.” Glamy added.
Despite the prolonged prominence of the beef between AKA and Cassper in the South African hip-hop scene, the untimely demise of the Supa Mega shifted the narrative. In the aftermath, Cassper chose to honour his longtime rival by releasing a tribute song. Mufasa admitted that crafting the song was a challenging task, underscoring the unexpected turn of events as he never envisioned himself composing such a tribute for AKA during his lifetime.
“It was a tough song to write, I never thought ever in my life that I’d be like writing a song about Kiernan in that light,” he said. “When I heard of his passing I couldn’t even express the pain I was feeling because of our relationship, we hated each other. I mean, I hated him till the last day, but I was shocked myself, I was so sad,” Cassper added.
