Flash iKumkani Pulls Out of September Boxing Bout As Album Rollout Takes Priority. South African artist Hlumile Mangoloti, better known as Flash iKumkani, will not step into the ring on 26 September. Pika Records announced today that the performer has withdrawn from the boxing match organised by Xaba Promotions in kuGompo City due to binding contractual obligations tied to his forthcoming album.
According to the label’s media statement, Flash iKumkani has completed recording, and the project has now moved into its critical pre-release phase. This stage requires his full participation in scheduled promotional, marketing and album-rollout activities. As a signed Pika Records artist, he is bound by the terms of his recording contract.
“Due to these contractual commitments, Flash iKumkani will unfortunately not be able to participate,” the statement reads. The label, speaking on behalf of the artist and his management team, issued a formal apology to fans, supporters, Xaba Promotions and everyone who had been looking forward to seeing him compete.
Pika Records emphasised that the decision was not taken lightly. “Fulfilling his contractual obligations and ensuring the successful rollout of his upcoming album are important to Flash iKumkani’s continued professional development and career growth,” the statement continued.
The artist and label expressed appreciation for ongoing fan support and said they look forward to sharing new music and future projects. They also thanked all parties for their understanding.
The withdrawal marks a clear prioritisation of music over the boxing appearance. Flash iKumkani, whose work sits at the intersection of African rhythm, storytelling and innovation (the same values championed by Pika Records), is now expected to focus entirely on the album campaign in the weeks ahead.
