A-Reece’s 2017 Classic Disappears From Streaming Platforms and DistroKid Account. A-Reece’s music catalogue has once again been hit by an unexplained digital setback, with his acclaimed 2017 album From Me to You & Only You now missing from major streaming platforms and, unusually, his DistroKid account.
The Pretoria rapper brought the issue to his fans’ attention through an Instagram Story. According to A-Reece, the album was removed from services including Spotify and Apple Music without any warning, while the project also appeared to have disappeared from his DistroKid account.
“So you guys know how like… every year some strange things tend to happen to my music on dsp’s out the blue and what not… right? yeah, well this year was not about to have fomo so … ‘FMTYAOY’ has been removed not only off dsp’s but somehow from my @distrokid acc as well,” A-Reece wrote.
The rapper said he had not received any communication explaining the removal either before or after it happened, leaving him without a clear indication of what triggered the disappearance.
A-Reece said it was his dedicated fanbase, known as the “$limes”, that first brought the issue to his attention through comments and direct messages. Their messages alerted him that the album was no longer available, prompting him to investigate the situation.
The artist also acknowledged that similar problems involving his music have occurred in the past. While fans may be familiar with seeing him address unexpected removals and streaming-related issues, A-Reece indicated that he is equally frustrated by the recurring disruptions.
“You guys probably tired of reading or hearing stuff like this coming from me every now and then. Trust me, I find it tedious as well,” he wrote.
Should the issue remain unresolved, A-Reece said he is prepared to take matters into his own hands by re-uploading the project in an effort to make it available to listeners again.
Released in October 2017 under The Wrecking Crew banner, From Me to You & Only You occupies an important place in A-Reece’s catalogue. The project arrived during a significant period in his career following his departure from Ambitiouz Entertainment and further established his reputation for introspective writing and a distinct approach to South African hip-hop.
The album’s disappearance also comes against the backdrop of previous instances where A-Reece has spoken publicly about unexplained disruptions affecting his music on streaming platforms. While the exact cause of the latest removal remains unclear, issues involving distribution, metadata and platform administration can affect the availability of digitally distributed music.
At the time of A-Reece’s post, there was no public explanation from DistroKid or the major streaming services regarding the album’s removal.
