The South African hip-hop star shared news of the partnership alongside a photo of an official handover, revealing that Universal Music SA contributed R25,000 towards Million Voices for 1 Million Girls. The ceremonial cheque, dated 8 August 2025 and signed by Universal Music South Africa’s Manusha Sarawan, was presented at the record company’s offices.

For Cassper Nyovest, the contribution represents more than a financial donation. It forms part of his efforts to use his public platform to draw attention to challenges affecting young people and to support initiatives that can create practical change.

“This is what @millionvoices_sa is about, using my platform to make a real difference,” Nyovest said in his post. “There are so many young girls who miss school and opportunities because they don’t have access to something as basic as sanitary products. That shouldn’t be their reality.”

Million Voices is focused on addressing period poverty, a challenge that can affect girls’ ability to attend school consistently when they do not have reliable access to menstrual products. The campaign’s Million Voices for 1 Million Girls initiative seeks to provide sanitary products to girls who need them while raising awareness around the wider impact of period poverty on education and opportunity.

Nyovest also acknowledged Universal Music South Africa for supporting the campaign and contributing to its efforts. “Big thank you to @universalmusicsa for coming on board and supporting the vision. I really appreciate the love and the contribution towards making a difference. We’re using the platform to make an impact where it matters,” he added.

The partnership places the music industry behind a cause that extends well beyond entertainment. While artists traditionally use their platforms to promote music, brands and commercial projects, initiatives such as Million Voices create opportunities for that influence to be directed towards social issues affecting communities.

For Nyovest, the campaign adds another dimension to his work outside the recording studio. His involvement highlights how established artists can use their visibility to bring attention to causes that directly affect young people and encourage corporate partners to contribute to practical solutions.

The R25,000 contribution from Universal Music South Africa becomes part of Million Voices’ broader effort to ensure that a lack of menstrual products does not become a barrier between girls and their education.
