MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe Unite SA Hip-Hop Heavyweights On Rush-Awa Debut Album

MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe Unite SA Hip-Hop Heavyweights On Rush-Awa Debut Album. MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe have joined forces as Rush-Awa, unveiling their self-titled debut album. The 15-track project brings together an extensive lineup of established rappers and emerging artists, placing collaboration at the centre of a release designed to showcase the breadth of South African hip-hop.

The duo have positioned Rush-Awa as a call for greater unity within the local hip-hop community. Ahead of the release, they described the album as an effort to bridge the gap between artists and encourage more collaboration across the culture.
“This one is for South Ahh. Rush-Awa is here to fill the gap in collaboration in our beloved Hip Hop family. Let’s make Hip-Hop great again. Ke Rush-Awa Jo,” they declared.
The album follows a series of releases that introduced listeners to the duo’s collaborative approach. In June, Rush-Awa released “Lapisa”, featuring Lowfeye, LaCabra and Dolphin_DX. The high-energy track went on to earn gold certification, establishing an early milestone for the production duo. August saw the release of “Ntshepe”, which brought together Loatinover Pounds, Sjava and Cassper Nyovest for a more measured offering. A remix of “Ballon d’Or”, featuring Focalistic and MfanaTouchLine, further built anticipation ahead of the album’s arrival.
Across its 15 tracks, Rush-Awa assembles an impressive cross-section of South African hip-hop talent. “Chocolate 2by2” features 25K, Blxckie and Maglera Doe Boy, while “Streetz” unites Blxckie, Nasty C and Usimamane. Elsewhere, Emtee joins issi on “Mama”, and “Umkhonto” brings together Blxckie, Flow Jones Jr., KindlyNxsh and K.Keed.
The full tracklist also includes “Avuxeni” featuring Danya Devs and Dolphin_DX; “Bhenga” featuring issi, LaCabra and Lowfeye; “Luh Post” featuring BABYLOWSK1 and FLVME; and “Mbali” featuring LaCabra, Lowfeye and Wordz.
Other collaborations include “Tuff” with Blxckie and KindlyNxsh, “Kaofela” featuring Maglera Doe Boy, THE NORTHMOB. and Wordz, and “She Say” featuring 25K and BABYLOWSK1. The closing track, “Pray 4 It”, features 25K, Mochen, Saint Cielo and Thato Saul.
Beyond the established names, the album makes room for emerging voices, bringing different artists, sounds and audiences together under one project. The extensive guest list reinforces Rush-Awa’s stated intention to encourage collaboration across the local hip-hop scene rather than limit the album to a single circle of artists.
MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe lead the production, with additional contributions from collaborators including CraigCreates. The project combines hard-hitting drums, club-oriented energy and street-influenced sounds, while Glo Thebeatz handled mixing and mastering at Playground Productions.
With its extensive list of collaborators and a tracklist spanning multiple corners of South African hip-hop, Rush-Awa marks a significant joint release for the two producers. The album puts their collaborative vision into practice, bringing established figures and newer artists together on a single 15-track project.
Rush-Awa is available now on all major streaming platforms.
