Taking to Instagram to mark the 10th anniversary, the rapper opened up about the challenges he faced while bringing the album to life, describing it as the most difficult project he had ever released. Despite the obstacles behind the scenes, the experience strengthened his passion for music, self-expression and, most importantly, writing.

According to PdotO, the concept for The Devil’z Playground was first developed in 2012, but it took four years for the vision to become a reality. During that period, he went through numerous drafts, created countless songs and discarded several ideas before finally settling on the body of work that listeners would come to know.

The album was released in 2016 without the backing of a major record label, making its eventual impact a particularly meaningful achievement for the independent artist.

A decade later, the project has accumulated more than a million streams and views, a milestone PdotO attributes to the collective effort of the people who believed in the vision and helped bring it to life.

The rapper also took time to acknowledge producer SilasBeats, who accompanied him throughout the creative journey, as well as CapCity Records, founded by Tshepiso Poho, for its contribution to the album.

He extended his gratitude to the artists, designers, videographers, choreographers and other creatives who contributed their talents to the project. However, he reserved special appreciation for the supporters who have continued to keep the album alive over the years.

Reflecting on what the project represents to him, PdotO explained that music is an essential part of his life and that creating it is an extension of who he is. For him, The Devil’z Playground was more than just a debut album. It was a necessary expression of his experiences, emotions and observations about the music industry.

The album’s title also carried a deeper meaning, reflecting his perspective on the realities of the industry and the choices artists face while navigating it.

In his Instagram post, PdotO wrote, “It’s The Devil’z Playground, but we Choose to Play Rather than Choose to Pray,” offering a pointed reflection on the tension between the systems artists operate within and the values they seek to uphold.

The statement captures the central idea behind the project, which emerged from a period of ambition, emotional complexity and personal growth. Looking back, the rapper appears to view the album as both a reflection of his circumstances at the time and a message he needed to share with the world.

Beyond celebrating its commercial milestones, the anniversary has also allowed PdotO to acknowledge how much he has changed over the past decade.

“10 years of Music, 10 years of Growth, 10 years of Understanding,” he wrote, summing up the lessons gathered throughout his journey.

He also credited Christ for guiding his path, closing his message with an expression of gratitude for the album that continues to hold a special place in his life.

“This will forever be the album I needed most,” PdotO declared. Ten years after its release, The Devil’z Playground remains a reminder of the persistence required to turn a creative vision into reality. For PdotO, its legacy extends beyond streams and views, representing a period of personal discovery, artistic determination and the foundation of a journey that continues to unfold.
