iFani Opens The Floor For Eastern Cape’s Final Cypher Pick

The veteran rapper has confirmed that the competitive series has reached its final two rounds, with Round 19 scheduled to drop on Thursday, followed by Round 20 on Friday, bringing the provincial lyrical showdown to an end.

With noStix Makasana previously representing the Eastern Cape but failing to secure a victory in his matchup, attention has now shifted to finding the next contender. Rather than making the decision himself, iFani has turned to the hip-hop community for suggestions.

“Who should we, as Eastern Cape, put here?” he asked in a social media post. “Should we get PDotO? Igqala? Or should we go new school, Dollxr? Or who? Talk to me. Before you complain kwii comments section.”

The names mentioned bring different strengths to the table. East London-born lyricist PDotO has built a reputation through years of consistency and an impressive catalogue, making him a strong option for those who favour established lyrical experience. Dollxr, on the other hand, represents the younger generation of Eastern Cape hip-hop, bringing the energy of the emerging Xhosa Wave movement. Igqala also remains a possible choice as the conversation continues.

The cypher originally kicked off in early October, with iFani rallying Eastern Cape talent against KwaZulu-Natal, led by Zakwe. Since then, the competition has brought together different voices from both provinces, turning the series into a showcase of regional pride, lyrical ability and hip-hop identity.

Now that only two rounds remain, the Eastern Cape’s next selection could prove crucial in how the province finishes its campaign. iFani wants the people to make their voices heard before the final decisions are made.

With Thursday and Friday set to deliver the last instalments, the question remains: who has what it takes to carry the Eastern Cape flag into the final battle?
