The 26-year-old rapper has left fans and critics alike with mixed reactions following his recent remarks about the album that garnered widespread acclaim upon its release in August 2020. “Zulu Man With Some Power” received chart-topping success both in South Africa and beyond but Nasty C believes the project was not good enough.

During an interview on L-Tido Podcast, Nasty C explained his perspective on why he considers “Zulu Man With Some Power” to be his worst work to date. This came after he was asked to rank all his albums.

The Zulu rapper said that the album didn’t connect and it was fantasy-driven. “I would say Zulu Man With Some Power, and this is not me saying oh no I did a terrible job, no I did an outstanding job, but it didn’t connect. It was fantasy-driven, there wasn’t too much realism in that,” he said.

“It was like I was trying to create this world whatever I just trying to give very psychedelic with it and be like oh this is escape music, escape from reality music. Just because of where I was, might’ve been a cry for help but that’s a chat for another day.”

The Strings And Blings hitmaker added that the other reason he feels the album didn’t land is because it was inspired by someone else and it was not according to his own timing and journey.

“I think another thing that contributed to it not performing as well as I would’ve liked it to is that it was an album inspired by someone else. It wasn’t like me going you know what I’m at a point in my life where I want to do this,” Nasty C said.
