This tradition has been entrenched in South African Hip Hop for as long as memory serves. However, established artists are not obligated to support up-and-coming artists if they don’t see the necessity. Big Xhosa is one of the South African rappers who has openly declared his stance on featuring lesser-known artists.

In a Facebook post, the renowned rapper declared his decision to cease collaborating and promoting up-and-coming artists. He expressed his intent to prioritize his own artistic endeavours, extending well wishes to those aspiring to break into the South African music scene.

“We have decided to stop doing features, I will no longer be doing features or promotions. I will be sending back the verses of the people I have not sent back and will also stop doing promotions will just continue for those that we were in the middle of promoting for then it ends there.. I want to focus on me I believe I did what I could do for up and coming artists out there, all the best in your journey guys,” he wrote.

Intending to propel his music career, the Ninyile hitmaker hinted at releasing new music stating that it’s a love song titled ‘Namhlanje.’ “I need an Artcover, song title. Big Xhosa – Namhlanje.. it’s a love song,” he wrote.
